SWEDISH MASSAGE IN LONDON
Swedish massage was developed and pioneered by Per Henrick Ling as part of a movement in gymnastics and physical exercise in the late 19th century. Since then it has become the basis for therapeutic massage in the western world.
It aims to manipulate the muscle tissues to restore flexibility and increase blood circulation in the tissues and can therefore help stiff and aching muscles restore function. Strokes are applied in a logical order to aid circulation of blood and the lymphatics, break down scar tissue and adhesions in the muscle and promote the removal of the waste products of metabolism.
It is both a remedial massage and a relaxing one and the techniques form the basis of sports massage and deep tissue massage
Remedial massage
The term remedial or therapeutic massage refers to massage that has the aim and result of achieving a therapeutic outcome. This is as opposed to massage as merely a pleasant or relaxing experience. As such the standard of training in anatomy and physiology is higher and the techniques used are applied to effect an improvement in muscle condition and flexibility.

Since 3000BC in China it has been documented that massage efficiently encourages the healing of body, mind and spirit. The Greeks, Romans, Egyptians and many major civilizations have recognised the benefits of massage.
In the 21st century we use massage more than ever. Epidemiologists tell us stress is increasingly taking its toll on us and our relationships, families and businesses. In response massage is seeing an appropriate and natural surge in popularity.
